Founding Father and local Philadelphian Benjamin Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” We certainly agree, which is why we invest heavily in educating communities on teen anxiety and depression. Our Educational Outreach Program partners with school districts and community organizations to deliver informative and engaging presentations on Anxiety and Depression in Adolescents to three audiences who play a primary role in the mental health and well-being of our children: (1) students – grades 7th through 12th; (2) parents and guardians; and, (3) educators which include staff and administrators.
Beyond the formal presentation, our team will stay as long as your schedule permits to answer audience questions. Through the use of supporting videos, testimonials, evidence-based information and audience engagement, our goals are: (1) for people to learn something new about anxiety and depression; (2) to dispel myths and correct misinformation, both of which erect barriers to understanding and treatment; (3) to save at least one life through the power of each exchange; (4) to inspire communication beyond the presentation to help erase the stigma associated with mental health conditions; and, (5) to insure teens know they are never alone and there is hope!
At the invitation of schools and organizations, the faculty and staff of Michael’s Giving H.A.N.D. delivers its Anxiety and Depression in Adolescents presentation throughout the academic year, and by special request during the summer months. We work with schools and organizations to accommodate their requests and ask if there are any special circumstances we should be aware of when presenting to their audience. This approach allows us to focus on the needs of each organization. We are excited to present to the following schools and organizations this upcoming academic year:
Saint Joseph Preparatory School
Father Judge High School
Maritime Academy Charter School
Haddonfield Middle School
and more
Please note that these presentations are private, unless otherwise stated. If you would like us to present to your school or organization, please complete our presentation request form.
We are honored to have shared our message at public schools, private schools, charter schools, and parochial schools. The more students, parents and educators we reach, the greater our impact on erasing the stigma associated with mental health conditions. These schools are committed to helping their students through the struggles of anxiety and depression and guiding them to supportive resources, such as Michael’s Giving H.A.N.D.:
